It is the 75th anniversary of Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Amin Babayev, who made great contributions to the development of Soil Science in Azerbaijan. Amin Babayev studied at the Faculty of Agronomy of the Azerbaijan Agricultural Institute (now Azerbaijan State Agrarian University) from 1967 to 1972, graduating with honors. Later, he continued his studies at the purpose-built postgraduate school of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University and received his PhD degree in 1976. The scientist has dedicated most of his life to scientific research in the field of ecological agriculture.
Professor Amin is not only a scientist, but also a carrier of ideas. When he looked at the soil, he saw not only its physical composition - he saw in it life itself, the yeast of the future, the fate of the village people, and the soul of an entire economic system. This vision made him the founder of the scientific school of ecological agriculture in Azerbaijan. During his 50 years of scientific and pedagogical activity, Amin Babayev built scientific bridges between the land and human. The departments, specialties, and resource centers created on his initiative became not only structures, but also centers of thought. The draft Law “On Ecologically Clean Agriculture”, prepared under the leadership of the scientist and reflected in the legislation, proved that, he was an active public scientist.
The scientist, who dedicated 50 years of his life to science, is the author of 5 scientific monographs, up to 200 scientific articles, 20 books, booklets, brochures, textbooks and teaching aids, up to 30 scientific and journalistic articles, and the scientific editor of about 20 works. Today, Professor Amin's students are conducting research on land and the future prospects of the agricultural sector in different parts of the world.
Amin Babayev's name is not only in Azerbaijan, but also in international organizations such as IFOAM, EUCARPIA, ASA, UNESCO. This shows that his ideas are limitless. The One World Award he was awarded in 2017 proved his value not only as a scientist.
