Director General of the Agricultural Regulation and Inspection Service (SARIS) of the Federal Republic of Somalia -Abdi Mohamed Hussein, and his accompanying delegation visited the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan. The guests were welcomed by the Director General of the Institute, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor -Alovsat Guliyev, Executive Director, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Associate Professor- Shalala Salimova, and employees of the Institute.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on common problems faced by both countries in the agricultural sector, especially urgent issues such as water resource management, protecting soil fertility, increasing soil productivity, and conducting agrochemical analyses with new technologies. The parties also discussed opportunities for future cooperation in scientific research and exchange of technological experience.
During the practical part of the visit, SARIS representatives were introduced to the working principle of a modern ICP device at the Institute's International Soil Ecology Laboratory. They were given detailed information about the analysis of soil samples using modern technologies and the role of technology.
The delegation also visited the Soil-Agrochemical Research and Mass Analysis Laboratory, as well as the reconstructed and enriched Soil Museum. The exhibits at the museum, reflecting the diversity and agrarian potential of Azerbaijani lands, aroused great interest among the guests.
