Today, a meeting was held between Director General of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan), Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Alovsat Guliyev and Head of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Sabina Hajiyeva.

The meeting discussed the historical, scientific and cultural significance of Kahriz monuments in our country. In response to the appeal of the Ministry of Culture, Professor Alovsat Guliyev noted at the meeting that, leading scientists of the Institute in the Fuzuli region have familiarized themselves with the Kahriz heritage monuments, conducted an expert inspection, taken water samples, and investigated the causes of the collapse of the monuments. Fuzuli is considered an important area as an ancient human settlement and a center of great civilization, and the historical and architectural monuments located here will be a fundamental source of reference for future research. The flow of springs and underground water resources in the region indicate the richness of the ancient Kahriz culture. However, as a result of the Armenian occupation, long-term neglect, explosions, and the impact of heavy equipment, many Kahriz tunnels were damaged and monuments were destroyed.

Corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Alovsat Guliyev noted that, thanks to his systematic research starting in the 1970s, the Kahriz monuments in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic have been studied in detail, and their architectural and hydrotechnical features have been documented. Thanks to the professor's many years of monitoring, the current status of the kahriz has been determined not only in Nakhchivan, but also in the liberated territories of Karabakh, and the initial scientific basis for their protection and future restoration has been prepared.

It should be noted that, in recent days, the representative of the Ministry, Seyran Guliyev, visited the Institute, discussions were held, and the books "Azerbaijani Kahrizleri" and "Nakhchivan Kahrizleri", authored by Professor A. Guliyev, were presented to the Ministry.

They stated that, they are always ready to work together with specialists working in this field in the future.
