Scientists from the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry visited Karabakh

   A scientific-practical, socio-cultural trip to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan - the Karabakh region - was organized by the Trade Union Committee at the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

   The main purpose of the scientific-practical visit, which was attended by the heads of the institute's laboratories and departments, was to observe on-site research conducted in the liberated territories, study the soil and water resources of those territories, assess their agricultural potential, as well as get acquainted with the institute's work with Karabakh University and form new cooperation opportunities in this direction.

   During the trip, the participants traveled to Agdam, Askeran, Khojaly, Khankendi, Shusha, and Lachin and became closely acquainted with the natural and landscape conditions of the region. They visited the Cidır Plain, Shusha Fortress, Isa Spring, and many other places of interest.

   During the visit, the delegation of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry also visited Karabakh University. During the meeting, the Director General of the Institute, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Alovsat Guliyev, and the Director of the Karabakh Center of Excellence Abdulkhalig Mammadli discussed the joint organization of soil and water research, future cooperation opportunities between the two scientific institutions, and future projects in the direction of studying the soil and water resources of the region.

   On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of ANAS, the Institute donated a number of scientific publications and methodological literature to the library of Karabakh University for the purpose of promoting and educating science.The scientific works of prominent scientists of the institute - M.A. Salayev, R. Mammadov, M. Abduyev, G.Sh. Mammadov, A. Guliyev, A. Ismayilov, M. Mustafayev, V. Hasanov, M. Mammadov and others have been presented to the university fund.

   Director of the Karabakh Center of Excellence - Abdulkhalig Mammadli expressed his gratitude and emphasized that, the presented books, monographs and textbooks on soil, water resources and ecology will enrich the University's library fund and play an important role in the scientific study of Karabakh lands.

   Continuing the visit, scientists from the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry took soil samples from various depths by placing soil samples in the territory of the Agdam region. Based on laboratory analyses conducted on these samples, the agroecological condition of the area, soil fertility indicators, and the level of suitability for future agricultural purposes will be determined.

   Participants in the scientific-practical visit noted that, such research conducted in the liberated Karabakh lands forms an important scientific basis for the restoration of the region, the restoration of ecological balance, and the sustainable development of the agricultural sector. The visit of scientists from the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry has concluded successfully.
