Today, a round table was held at the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the participation of doctors of sciences, professors and laboratory directors. The event discussed the work done within the framework of a scientific and practical visit to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan - the Karabakh region, with the participation of Institute employees.
The Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, has great and rich scientific traditions. Based on the "First Return" program to Karabakh, the Institute's employees conducted a series of scientific, practical and field research works. Noting this, the Director General of the Institute, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Alovsat Guliyev, in his speech, highly appreciated the importance of the research carried out by scientists in Karabakh. He emphasized, the importance of increasing the number of articles indexed by the institute in international scientific journals, especially in the Scopus database, and said that, this is of great importance in terms of strengthening the institute's scientific reputation and integrating it into the global scientific space. The professor also specially noted, the many years of activity of the Institute's Doctor of Sciences, Academician Maharram Babayev in the field of soil research and his services in training young scientists.
Doctor of Agricultural Sciences - Mustafa Mustafayev noted that, modern land pollution is causing environmental problems and that land degradation will intensify in the future. He spoke about the measures that, need to be taken to prevent these problems.
Executive director of the Institute, PhD in biology, - Gulchohra Huseynova said in her speech that, the scientific activity of the Institution is very rich.
According to him, the "Soil Museum" operating under the Institute is of particular importance in this regard. Over the past ten years, the museum has been improved to a higher level. The executive director added that, on the eve of the 80th anniversary of ANAS, October-November have been declared "Open Door" museum days. During these days, pupils, students and young researchers will be able to get acquainted with the museum closely and see Azerbaijani soil samples and monoliths live.
At the end of the event, he emphasized that, land is the foundation of life: "Everything starts with land and returns to land. Therefore, it is the duty of each of us to protect the land and pass it on to future generations in a healthy way." The work carried out during the visit to Karabakh was discussed at the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry.
